With our upcoming annual anthropological gathering in San José this November, Anthropology News will focus on all things Silicon Valley. We are inviting proposals for feature articles by anthropologists who work for technology companies or conduct research on high technology communities, on topics from innovation and disruptive technologies to startup cultures to Silicon Valley’s impact on economic inequalities in the Bay Area to how people live in the region. What does anthropology have to tell us about the ways people live, work, and play in Silicon Valley?

We are open to creative, inventive proposals that illuminate anthropological discussions of Silicon Valley from an engaging and fresh perspective, in the form of feature articles, graphic forms of ethnography, or photo essays.

Please send a 250-word pitch outlining the story or argument of your piece, together with a 50-word author bio to [email protected] by May 18, 2018.

First drafts will be due by June 29 and will go through a developmental edit with the AN editor. Final articles will publish in the November/December print magazine and on the AN website.
